At the time the world gradually coming into the energy crisis, it is important that we shrink the utilization of non-renewable sources of energy such as fossil fuels. Energy solutions that keep on production energy without exhausting the natural resources refer to renewable or alternative energy solutions. Three categories fall into the group of renewable energy solutions: energy from the sun, hydro power, and wind energy generation.

Because the solar energy is limitless and free, use it. You may utilize sun power options at home. Using power from the sun for home will reduce your electrical power bills and save the environment. Depending on you are set up, you will apply solar power for cooking, heating and AC systems, lighting, and other electrical devices.

The solar power systems include many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They really are low on maintenance as a result saving your time and effort. Investing in solar energy for your home makes a lot of sense. You receive a return on investment really soon and the systems become free to use. Bear in mind that cooking using sun power is considered incredibly healthy.

People have been using windmills since prior to the birth of Christ. The oldest kind of renewable energy is wind power. Initially, windmills were used for towing boats and pumping water although over time, they started generating electrical power. Some of the first wind mills were also used to turn grain into flour.

Windmills and wind generators have been always in demand. Once used in your own home, wind energy will help cut down the use of standard energy. Since wind energy is a great supply of renewable power, it will go a long way promising a bright future for next many years.

Another amazing resource of renewable energy is hydro or water power. One can transfer the hydro energy into electrical energy to run vehicles and a variety of electrical appliances. Usually, the hydro energy is created on industrial bases. About 90 percent of all electrical power produced by renewable energy sources is created by water power.

Join thousands of individuals who make their own alternative energy for home throughout the world. Reduce your electrical energy bill and save the environment. There is a link below for more information.

The internet has lots of information on how to make your own wind turbine. You will find advice about locations, types, the necessary calculations and potential pitfalls. Many people are investigating the power of wind as a way to supply their electricity but finding that the installation costs are high.

When building your own turbine it is possible to save a lot of money. Having them installed by professional energy companies can be extremely expensive. One of the reasons people want to have a turbine is to save money on utility bills. Unfortunately if the initial cost has been high it can take years to start saving money. Energy prices have been fluctuating regularly for years and many households have found that their bills have risen far higher than inflation. This has led a lot of homeowners to start looking for alternative supplies. When doing so they largely look to renewable sources to help reduce their emissions and because they are sustainable.

Wind turbines are not suitable for all properties. Location is vital as they need strong and nearly constant winds. It can be difficult to situate them in residential areas as the buildings block the wind. Also there can be restrictive building regulations and unenthusiastic neighbors to contend with even if the wind is good.

If you do find a suitable location in a residential area it is most likely that a micro turbine will be the most suitable type to install. A micro turbine will not generate sufficient electricity to power a house but it will make an important contribution. If you decide to install one there are self assembly kits available.

If you live in a location with lots of open space and good strong winds then you could build a pole mounted turbine. Some turbines have blades as long as five meters, this means the turbine has a diameter of ten meters. It is clearly quite an undertaking to construct one of these and probably best left to the professionals. You could make a turbine half that size but be sure to make careful calculations about blade size and the height.

The basic construction of a turbine consists of three blades which connect to a magnetic generator. The blades power the generator which creates the electricity. If your location is very windy and the turbine is going to generate more power than you use at times, then you will also need batteries to store the power.

If you want to have a turbine but do not want to pay the up-front costs then you could investigate how to make your own wind turbine. Make sure you get your information from a reliable source.

You can find more details and information about the benefits of installing a wind turbine system for your home today. Windmills provide an easy and convenient way to generate energy and reduce utility bills easy!

There are many components that are required for a home wind power system to work properly. These components include the rotor blades, generator, tower, yaw mechanism, and much more.

Using the power of the wind as a means of lowering your expenses due to the use of power is an awesome solution. You can save money while not contributing to the air pollution that generates in this modern world. Many homeowners with wind power generators are very happy with their alternative energy solution because it does save them money on a monthly basis. With this easy to install system, you can save money while absorbing the costs throughout the years.

When you build a wind-powered solution at home, you will need a generator. Wind power does not depend upon grid power, as does a solar source of alternative energy. Using the alternator of a car is the best means of having a generator for your home solution of wind power. However, there are disadvantages to this type of generator. They include the need to drive at high speeds to get the best output of energy.

When there is low wind speed it may not put off enough power also. If you don't want to use a car alternator then you should consider using a permanent magnet generator. This is usually the most successful form of generator you can use.

When you build your own wind turbine system for alternative energy, you can make your own blades. You may carve them from wood like many others if you like. However, there are place that will sell you the blades you need that are ready to go. Keep in mind however, that blades will spin at top speeds at time and you should always consider the safety factor. Consider anything that may happen as well as protection from harm.

Most importantly, you need to consider your wind factor while building your alternative energy source. When you live in areas that do not provide sufficient winds your system will not work properly. In order to generate and store energy you need more than 6 miles per hour winds, which are common at ground level. If you do not have enough wind power, you will generate very little useable electricity.

A tower is another thing that you need when you install a wind turbine system at your home for alternative energy sources. If you live in a home owner's association neighborhood then this may be out of the question, no matter how big your lot is. A tower should be up to 80 feet high to capture the highest wind speeds and to be the most effective. This may be too much of an eye sore for an HOA to allow you to put in your neighborhood.

There are many factors to consider when you are planning to build a wind alternative energy source at home. For instance, you need to ensure that you do get the type of wind speed required for building your own turbine system at home. You can also find what you need by shopping with local retailers.

We all do the same thing once a month; we write that check or make an online payment to our local electrical supplier to keep the energy we need flowing into our homes. Your bill is typically based on the amount of energy used, making this one of the few bills which we can directly lower through our actions.

Your electricity bill can be one of the largest parts of your household budget, depending on how many appliances you need to run in your home. Of course, electricity costs aren't your only concern - there's plenty of other bills to be paid, so anywhere you can cut costs is very helpful to keeping your budget under control.

A common solution to this issue is to take on the many tricks of electricity conservation to reduce electricity costs and ensure better environmental safety. These are all good practices, but they are difficult to maintain especially if you are living with other people in the house and strive to keep your living environment convenient and productive.

One solution is to use alternative energy sources to reduce your energy costs. You're probably already aware of solar energy and wind power, but what can you do if there are no nearby solar or wind energy providers to buy energy from?

Actually, you don't need those big facilities to power your home with alternative energy. All you need are home devices that take advantage of the sun or wind and convert it to energy. But the real question is, which of the energy alternatives is affordable?

To take advantage of the sun, you need solar panels and getting solar panels can be tough to find. There are plenty being sold on the internet, but they are very delicate to ship and their overall cost could be way out of your budget. Plus you need a lot of solar panels to provide enough power to benefit you.

Wind power, by contrast can be gotten up and running for a low cost. You can even make your own wind turbines using cheap and widely available parts. You can find everything you need online or at your friendly neighborhood junkyard for a low cost. All you need is some rotors, a structure to support them and a generator to handle converting the wind energy into electricity.

Since the steps in making a wind turbine is fairly simple, you can make numerous wind turbines to provide more amounts of electricity to power your devices while reducing the dependence of your main supply of electricity. Plus you get added benefits of them working 24 hours a day as long as there is wind.

Especially if you live in a rural area, you can generate a lot of power using your wind turbines. Placing your turbines as high off the ground as possible will give you the best results; on your rooftop is usually the best place. Even those who live in large cities can take advantage of the benefits of wind power to lower their electricity bills - all it takes is a roof and a little DIY know-how.

Why solar panels? With the ever-present threat of Global Warming looming over our heads, clean and renewable energy is an appealing alternative to electricity generated from fossil fuels. Solar energy can reduce the monthly cost of electricity. It is a technology amenable to DIY projects.

Solar panels harness the power of sunlight to generate electricity through the use of photovoltaic (PV) cells. If money is no object, a contractor can be hired to obtain and install a solar system for you. For those of us in the "other" category, there are other less expensive options. These include purchasing solar panel kits, refurbishing used solar panels, and the ultimate DIY of making panels from component parts. Solar panels can create a more self-sufficient household in which they meet your all or most of household electrical energy needs. The ideal scenario would have the electricity generated will exceed the needs permitting electricity to be sold back to the Grid.

Although the there are other component required for more complex systems, the basic elements of a homemade solar panel system include four items: Solar panel(s); Charge controller; Battery; and Inverter.

The solar panel: While we see the system as a solar panel, the total voltage is the sum of the voltage of all the photovoltaic cells in the system. To determine how many panels are needed we need to look at and average out the energy usage that appears on our bills.

The charge controller / regulator: The charge controller helps to maximize the life of the battery by the prevention of overcharging. It also follows the discharge status of the battery day and night.

Battery: The electricity not immediately used is stored by a battery or series of batteries. Deep-cycle or marine batteries are preferable to automobile batteries because they are capable of storing all or virtually all of the electricity generated by the solar panels, thus minimizing waste.

Inverter: Solar panels generate and store electricity as DC or Direct Current, whereas our appliances utilize AC or Alternating Current. The job of the inverter is to convert DC to AC to meet our household needs.

If a solar panel system is designed with the intent of generating enough electricity to "sell back" to the Grid, then the components will include the AC Breaker Panel, and the Kilowatt-per-Hour Indicator are required. The KW per Hour indicator, for example is necessary to track how much current is provided to and from the grid to determine the charge or credit that appears on your monthly electric bill.

We should also not forget the obvious energy saving tips including the shutting off of lights in unused rooms and the use of Energy-saver fluorescent bulbs.

To summarize, homemade solar panels can provide a great opportunity for a DIY project. They are also only one of several great energy conservation tips.

by Adrian Fletcher

It may seem implausible to you to dispense with your utility company, but for many people this is becoming a reality. And the motivation is many fold. however, top of the reasons is that it can save money.

It goes without saying that electricity bills go up each year and don't seem to go down. Why this is the case is a subject of debate but the reality is that most of the raw materials that are used in power stations as finite materials that get more expensive to obtain. Whatever the reasons for the rises it is spurring people on to look for alternatives. And one such alternative is a home built wind generator.

Why a Home Built Wind Generator?

Well, why not is the best possible answer.

Upon installing your wind generator, you have a pretty much maintenance free source of free energy. Sounds like a good reason to me, however there are a few caveats. You need to be situated in an area that gets an adequate amount of wind. You also need a plot of spare land on your property to locate the turbine.

Kits Vs Home Grown

The popularity of alternative energy has encouraged many products to be launched in the home built wind generator field. Basically, you can buy a kit or you can buy plans and build the generator from scratch. The kit is easier to put together and requires less expertise but will cost more. If you do it yourself you have more scope to customize your turbine for your location or needs.

If you like a challenge or have some DIY skills then the kit is your best bet. Prices will vary depending on what your requirements are but it is a more cost effective solution than paying professionals to install a wind turbine.

If you have the skills and want to build a wind generator from scratch then you'll find a book or website that can show you how to build one (Some websites and products even come as videos if you prefer learning that way). The materials for your generator can be purchased second hand on places like ebay if you are on a budget.

It is all a matter of your mechanical and electrical abilities as well as craftiness in substituting materials. However, hopefully the end result is a home built wind generator that actually produces a little energy.

For most people, a home built wind generator will be used to supplement their existing grid power. It may provide enough power to run some of your kitchen appliances each month. This can knock a bit off your energy bills.

Having a wind generator is also better for the environment and puts less reliance on dwindling fossil fuels.
