by Viliam Kanis

Many people overlook the bathroom safety problem. The combination of slippery floors and hard surfaces make it a very hazardous environment. Many injuries have been reported over the years especially with the elderly and Bathroom Safety has now become a serious issue.

When designing a bathroom it is paramount that you use slip resistant tiles. Even if you do not plan to redesign your bathroom completely, there are still ways to elliminate slippery surfaces. Some of these methods are covering existing tiles with slip resistant mats and also adding adhesive strips to the tiles for added grip.

Shower chairs are becoming very popular amongst the elderly. Shower chairs can reduce the fatigue and risk of a fall too. Handheld shower heads also increasy the safety in the bathroom as it can be used comfortly to wash the whole body while sitting down.

Grab Rails also provide a safe route in and out of the shower. These rails can also reduce the risk of a fall significantly. Fixed grab rails that can be used as towel rails offer a great way to conserve the limited bathroom space and keep all necessary things at hand.

Another Bathroom safety tip that is overlooked by the majority of the public is installing child-proof locks for the bathroom cabinets. This reduces the risk of poisoning your kid when left unattended in the bathroom. It also keeps them away from sharp and dangerous objects like scissors and shavers.

When talking about safety in the bathroom, most overlook the fact that some people also have their toilet inside the bathroom. Toilet seat raisers can be used to raise the height of the toilet. As they are higher the sitting on and getting up off the toilet is much easier. To help the elderly move to and from the toilet bowl mount grab rails or bars near the toilet.

Some other great ideas that are important to the overall safety of the bathroom are scald-warning devices that change color based on the temperature of the water. This eliminates the risk of being burnt or scald by hot water. Soft covers can be used on the taps to decrease the risk of falling over and hitting the head.

These are just some of the measures we can take to increase the level of safety within our bathroom.

by Sebastian Zidan

Wondering why a bathroom vanity is so paramount to your bathroom? The basic reason is because unlike the rest of your bathroom fixtures, shower, sink, toilet etc, the vanity is the one item you have exclusive control over. The size, the placement, and the actual item you decide to purchase. Your entire theme can be dependent on choosing the correct mirror and trimmings to highlight the bathroom.

Because these permanent fixtures can not be moved very easily, it is nearly impossible to rearrange them. The most valuable item that you have total control over is the vanity. This item needs to be chosen on a personal level by you. You also need to choose a mirror that represents your home along with the warmth you want your guests to feel as they enter your newly redesigned bathroom.

Every room in the whole house may be decorated to the max but the restroom is one stop that most guests make after they enter your house. There is a very good possibility that your dining room or your den can be seen but they are not looked at like your bathroom is. With a smaller space they are going to notice the details more on your vanity and what colors you accented the whole room with. Lucky for you, once you delve into your options you will find that there are many different types of vanity mirrors that you can purchase to complete your bathroom dcor.

When you decorate your bathroom don't just put in a plain vanity. It is considered tacky and will not give off the warmth that you are hoping your guests feel when they enter your restroom. There are several solutions to bringing some warmth to your shower and toilet. But the biggest piece that will help connect the whole room will be the customized vanity. You can not afford to leave the vanity out of the bathroom.

If you're looking to add some green or red hues to your bathroom, a natural wood trim on your bathroom vanity would accent it perfectly. The two popular themes in the bathroom are the simple and plain white look and the warm, inviting touch of wood.

Overhead lighting above the vanity mirror also is going to be appreciated by your guests, while also bringing out the trimming of the bathroom vanity you purchase and put in place.
